AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 15
We know the winners ! Sakana managed to keep the lead, making a 5 points today, as Mmikasazuma and Neko.

Yûshô goes to Sakana (M10w), who did a good basho this time. Mmikasazuma (M10e), with 15 points on 18 available did a great final sprint and gets the jun-yûshô. So, you had to be ranked at maegashira 10, this time, to finish in the two first places !

Damimonay, with his second perfect today, gets a second Kantô-shô. Ganzohnesushi and Kasamatsuri did a perfect too.

Ganzohnesushi made another good basho, with a final score of 10-5. He has a 12-3 in Natsu, a 9-6 in Nagoya and a 10-5 this time, which means 31 wins in 3 basho in a row. As announced in the beginning of the tournament, the Sages should think twice about a promotion to ôzeki-hood, even if he hadn't been sekiwake (because there were too many sekiwake in the banzuke, he stayed as komusubi). So... The Sages have decided to promote Ganzohnesushi as ôzeki in november, for the Kyûshû basho ! Congratulations !

Kaiowaka, with his double digit at 10-5, is in a good position for a promotion to ôzeki. In Kyûshû, the Sages are waiting for a 9-6, at least !

A wink towards Konosato, who made us lying : he stopped his 9-6 series and got a double digit. If he manages to get a 12-3 in Kyûshû, we may consider his promotion to ôzeki, too...

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 14
Mmikasazuma does the good operation of the day, he comes back to Sakana at 1 point. Sakana is glued in this period. Besides, Kaiowaka and Neko are also at 1 point.

Mmikasazuma got 10 points on 12 available, so will he do the hold-up tomorrow ? Neko is making a good move too. There are 6 fawlers in 2 points, so...

Things we're sure about : Kotononami will keep his ôzeki rank ; Kaiowaka feels like at home in sanyaku-hood ; Terarno and Neko would come back to sanyaku-hood ; Konosato is a 9-6 machine ; Gonzaburow is one of the best players at FAWL and Ganzohnesushi is going to grab a 7th KK in a row (nice job !). But... Doitsuyama seems to fall from sanyaku next tournament.

And, about Zenjimoto and Susanoo : will they keep their sanyaku rank ? It looks hard to do... But who knows ? And about the winner : will he get 60 points at least ?

So, nothing is done and many things can still happen, and it's unusual in FAWL.

Good senshuraku !

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 13
Very bad start for the first day of the last period : only one 5 pts by Mmikasazuma. Otherwise, those who got a 4 pts can be happy of their day. Most of the fawlers got 2 pts.

Jakusotsu, with a 0 is a candidate to the Muppet-shô and it seems he lost all chance to win the yûshô. Wish him a good week-end, maybe he can do the impossible ?

Sakana gets 2 points more than Kaiowaka and Terarno. Those 2 points : will it be enough to grab the yûshô ?

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 12
Here we are : final countdown ! There are 8 fawlers who are in a good position to grab the yûshô, standing in a 6 points' gap. It seems that the winner is among them. Will it be ôzeki Kotononami, who will put his effort on the last meters and beat all his opponents and show who is the boss in the banzuke ? Will Kaiowaka get high score after high score to try to get a promotion to ôzekihood ? [Nothing is decided] Will the yûshô go to a low-banzuke rikishi : Jakusotsu, Bezu-Ryu or Sakana (Hi ! ^^) ? Will Terarno confirm his solid basho ? Or will Gonzaburow be the surprise ?

Maybe I'm wrong on all the line ? Answer next sunday, at the end of the senshûraku. But this final is really exciting !

Sakana - 25/9/2008

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 11
Day after day, Terarno is taking place among the leaders. Damimonay, who got a perfect today, is waiting in the first quater of fawlers. Otherwise, scores were wide today, and some fawlers are near from the KK/MK line. End of the fourth period tomorrow... Get ready for the last period with the last winners and last losers.

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 10
Perfect by Terarno ! Some 5 points today for the leaders, especially Sakana who takes the lead, alone.

What's up today ? Kotononami may keep his rank... or he'll have the worst end ? Will Konosato get his 6th 9-6 in a row at FAWL, with 4 as sekiwake (nice performance). Will Terarno come back in sanyaku in november ? Will Kaiowaka win twice in a row, as Ganzohnesushi was close to do in Nagoya ? Will Susanoo and Zenjimoto keep their sekiwake's rank ? And what about Doitsuyama and Fuseigou ?

November might bring many modifications in upper banzuke... But, maybe everybody will manage to come back and keep their ranks ? There are still 30 points to catch. See you tomorrow.

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 9
Scores are not really high, this basho... Are the absences of the Russian (usually picked) responsibles for this ? Especially two of them in the "Middle Group" ? To get a 4 points today was the best way to climb a lil'bit in the standings...

Only 4 fawlers have Asashôryû as Winner in the two last periods. What'll happen to them ? The yokozuna will continue the tournament or not ? Some points could miss to those fawlers, in the end of the basho...

At the end of this third period, with results lower than usual, 3 fawlers are sharing the lead : Sakana, Kaiowaka and Jakusotsu. Another 3 fawlers are following, two points back : Kotononami, Bezu-Ryu and Terarno. This Aki basho will probably goes in the hand of one of them... Or, a surprise will happen ?

Good luck in the fourth period ! We'll see better how the situation is at the end of the next period.

Fuseigou - 22/9/2008

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 8
Today, it was a difficult day for most of the fawlers. No perfect, some 5 points and many 2-4 points. Hidariashiyama has sent his registration for the Muppet-shô, with his 0 today... Besides, he is in a difficult position in the bottom of the rankings...

Ôzeki kadoban Kotononami is the one who has profit in this day, with a 5 points score, where the leaders had issues to get 3 or 4 points. He is on the podium for the first time of the tournament. The leader is Jakusotsu, one point more than Sakana and 2 more than Kotononami.

Still one day in the third period which shows a reduction of the gap between the leaders : 6 fawlers in 3 points gap... See you tomorrow for the end of the third period.

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 6
Low scores today, and two fawlers leading : Kaiowaka and Jakusotsu. One point behind, we have Sakana, and three fawlers are 3 points behind : Gonzaburow, kadoban ôzeki Kotononami and Whiskytsumi.

Anjoboshi is the "winner of the day" with the sole perfect of the day ! Many 3 or 4 points, some at 2 points... If we make a comparison with last Nagoya, we can see that the gap between the first and the last is smaller this time at the same time :

Serious things are beginning tomorrow, with the difficulties of the torikumi in the 3rd and the 4th periods. Will Kaiowaka and Jakusotsu be the leaders at the end of the next period ?

Fuseigou - 19/9/2008

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 5
Today, it's a big bang... And Hakuhô loss has something to see with that... The 7 first fawlers are in 4 points gap, after the boost made by Jakusotsu and Sakana, the only fawlers at 5 points, with Tamanaogijima and Fatakiyama. The KK/MK line is moving up 4 ranks. The lead has 11 points more than the last. If the rhythm is kept, it might be in the 6 first fawlers that we'll have the winner... Kadoban ôzeki Kotononami made a good start in order to keep his rank.

See you tomorrow for the end of the second period !

4th day with wide scores, from 1 to 5 points. No perfect, neither muppet. There is a 8 points' gap between the lead and the last, less than usual. This tournament is still keeping its secrets... Everybody can still win !

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 3
The scores are dispatched again and we have a sole leader : Whiskytsumi.

Sakana does the good move of the day with the only one perfect of this day. In the same time, Takashido and Kasamatsuri got a wonderful... zero ! We have our two candidates to the Muppet-shô !

You can check the standings after this first period.

Fuseigou - 16/9/2008

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 2
For this second day, scores are dispatched from 2 to 5 points, with only one perfect for Kitano ! Total scores are not more higher : between 5 and 10 points, maybe the worst start in a FAWL tournament ! Are Rohô, Wakanohô and Homasho's absences responsibles for this ?

Rendez-vous tomorrow for the end of the first period and maybe someone in the Group of 7 will take the lead, alone ?

AKI BASHO 2008 - Day 1
Welcome to Jejima and Mischashimaru !
During this Aki basho, we'll be 35 fawlers, the best score of players since the start of the game, one year ago. We hope this tournament will show a big battle !
Good start of the most part of fawlers, because 30 of us got 4 points or more ! So the KK/MK line is at 5 points today ! Jejima opens his career with a perfect ! He's not alone : Gonzaburow, Whiskytsumi (what a return !) and Jakusotsu.
The basho's race is long and the first days are just a quick view on the trend ; the real fight will start after the 3rd period.
Good luck everybody !

AKI BASHO 2008 - Banzuke
Welcome to Kaiowaka in sanyaku's ranks ! Good luck to Kotononami who is kadoban this basho.

Once again, it was a hard time to create the banzuke. Some will find it generous and others will think we have been harsh... Maybe the two ones who can be the most disappointed may be Ganzohnesushi and Kaiowaka, who hoped they will be pormoted to sekiwake.

Many promotions have pushed the Sages to keep and/or put them at komusubi rank. Their promotion would have made an issue with more sekiwake than komusubi, like a pyramid with the head at the feet. It seems more "normal" to keep a sanyaku-hood with 4 sekiwake and 4 komusubi. We hope, according to the results at the end of this tournament, that the next banzuke will be less difficult to make, obviously in sanyaku and joijin.

But... if Ganzohnesushi makes a good score at the end of the tournament, the Sages will think about a promotion to ôzeki-hood (he is in a good row) even if he never be sekiwake (remember Kisenosato's case in July ?). About Kaiowaka, it's a lil'bit different, because he is in the same case as Ganzohnesushi in July. But, if he's doign another good score, he'll be in november in the same case than Ganzohnesushi this time. (sorry for my english, Sakana)

Good Aki basho to everybody !
